Hello and welcome back to this Stop Smoking Audio series,

I want you to do something for me this week, it won't take you long, and it may just make things even easier for you.

What I want you to do is to write down a list of reasons why YOU want to quit smoking. OK many of the reasons are the same for all of us, the biggest of all being “I do not want to die early”. I have compiled a list which I will read to you, and from this list I want you to copy down onto a piece of paper all the ones that apply to you or that you agree with:

 

  • I want to live longer than I will as a smoker
  • I want to be healthy
  • I want to look and smell clean and fresh
  • I don't want to cause my children or grandchildren to smoke
  • I want to be free to do what I want without worrying about my addiction
  • I want to feel motivated to go out and exercise more
  • I want to wake up feeling fresh rather than feeling down and sleepy
  • I want to have control of my mind, totally in my own hands.
  • I want to prove to my family that they mean more to me than nicotine
  • I want to save money to spend on a break with my family or friends
  • I want my house to stay clean, dust free, and smelling fresh and bright
  • I want to find a partner, and I know it will be easier if I don't smoke
  • I want to be more productive in my work, and feel less tired after work
  • I want to put the tobacco industry in its place, outside my house, not in it.
  • I want to prove to myself I do in fact have will power and courage
  • I want to look as young as possible for as long as possible
  • I want to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL, which can't be done as a smoker
  • I want to get fitter like I used to be, and be able to run around more
  • I want my family and relatives to be proud of me
  • I want to avoid mistakes in my life, and look back later with pride, NOT regret

 

So, you have plenty there to start you off, and I want you to type up a list of bullet points detailing all of these reasons which apply to you, and make up some yourself too, your own personal reasons why being smoke free will be such a relief or achievement in your own life. Then I want you to print out this list on some nice heavy paper or card along with a photo of your family or closest loved one, and either laminate it or cover it with clear tape so it is well protected. Then you should carry this EVERYWHERE with you. No excuses, this should be with you at all times, make it small enough so it won't be in the way, but make sure you have it with you all the time. When you need a boost, when you need to remind yourself of the reasons you are having a bit of a hard time right now, all you have to do is flip out your own personal list of objectives and you will instantly feel clear headed again, and the direction to what you are doing will be easy to see once again.

You should then also make it a daily habit, more than a habit, a ritual, something you do without fail, to READ this in full when you first wake up in the morning, before you get out of bed, and then at lunch time and evening time too. Try to read it once you are in bed, and before you get out of bed so it is the last thing to go through your mind before you sleep, and the first thing to go through when you wake. This is a kind of self-hypnosis because you are encouraging your sub-conscious to be filled with the reasons why you WANT to give up smoking, and after a few days, you really will feel much clearer and more confident.

If anybody were to ask you why you have given up, you should know these reasons from memory and should tell everyone if they ask. These are YOUR reasons, be proud of them, don't shy away from them, and make sure you remember them. These are the reasons it IS worth it, and why every single step of the way, you are heading for a better life full of good health and happiness, plus that incredible sense of achievement to know you finally did it, you kicked the habit you never thought you would be able to shake off.

Don't think about this, just go and DO IT. These are the secret tricks to convincing your mind that nicotine is NOT in your best interests, and if you are not prepared to take up arms against nicotine, then you will lose the battle and the war which is nicotine addiction. Do it Today, Do it NOW.
